Why I avoid fast food like the plague.

I've spent posts explaining the horrific nature of fast food and why it's not helpful in our weight loss efforts.  Yes, we live in a busy time and there are meals where we have to partake.  But it should be infrequently, very infrequently.  When I hear of families hopping from one FF joint to the other  because they are too busy to cook for dinner, I cringe.

My dear friend, Angela, brought this to my attention today.  I've heard of a Twinkie lasting for years unchanged, but I've never seen it.  There is something about a photograph of food that bacteria won't even touch that speaks volumes.  If it's not decomposing naturally by the umpteen gazillion bacteria that exist everywhere on the planet, what the heck is it doing to your body?  What does your body have to do to break it down? Poor, poor body.

  1. I read that article this morning and to be honest, it freaks me out. Food is supposed to decompose. Stuff like plastic is not. What does this make McDonald's?

  2. Certainly not a food manufacturer. :P Yeah, the more I think about the "why" the more disgusted I get. I mean, why doesn't it decompose like food is supposed to? I probably don't really want to know...but then again, I do. :)

  3. I thought the same thing when I saw that article. I have a friend here in our ward that takes her kids to McDs at least twice a week. I've always thought that was a bit much, but now. Ugh! So glad my DS will not eat nuggets or fries or any of it. And thankfully we only go to FF when we are on a car trip.

  4. It would be best if we avoid fast food as much as possible because it is very unhealthy, and it is sad to know that the younger part of the population is more hooked to it. Meaning that they are still at risk of clinging to it for the years to come and their bodies are more prone to diseases caused by the habit of eating fast food every day. We can always make homemade salads and sandwiches to cut our fast food consumption.

    Eating fastfood daily is dangerous to anyone’s health. Studies have shown that eating at fastfood restaurants oftentimes increases the risk of heart attack and other health-related illnesses. Just imagine where the grease and the unhealthy ingredients of fastfood go to the moment your body receives them internally.

  6. You’re right, Nicolas. I guess one of the main keys here is to set up a proper state of mind, and everything else will follow efficiently. DO workouts because you want a lifelong achievement, such as having and maintaining a sense of well-being than just losing weight.
